Does your local farm service agency rent them in your area? I seen 2 great planes 6 footer on a dealer lot yesterday but not sure what he wants for them.

Budget always helps f you are looking for useful responses-----I have seen what you describe from $1,100 to $11,000.....

The county's around me all have one they will rent out for a reasonable price. You might check with them or ask around at your fertilizer supplier or Equipment dealer about renting one.

Yup, check with your local extension office.

We run a Frontier 7' 3 pt conservation seeder, works well on both sod or tilled ground. It has grass, grain and fertilizer hoppers. The only problem with it is they say it needs something like 70 HP, which would work but you couldn't pick it up. We put it on the back of a JD 4240 with 800# plus the starter weight on the front of it. If you aren't careful you can pick the front of the tractor up when you lift the seeder with the hoppers filled. We really should fill out the rack on the front.

I also recommend renting a notil seeder- our soil conservation office has 2, a 7ft and a 10ft. Or check with your local extension office. They are very expensive to buy, and you only need it for a short time. I just used one Tuesday, rented for $75. My suggestion is for the seed boxes to be concave at the very bottom, the one I rented was flat bottom and left about 4-5# of seed in the bottom. Mark.

First if you're going to try to notill alfalfa into alfalfa sod you will not see much for new seeding. Standing seeding will kill out the new seeding.
