I'm in need of some operating info on an old sawmill I just refurbished. Is this the place to ask or where should go to ask the multitude of questions I have? Such as how do I know what HP and what RPM the mill should run at.
Right now I am using the same setup my grandpa used, running the mill with a 1939 AC WC I rebuilt. I haven't gone far enough to check the RPM I am running now.
thanks,bushnellman

This is from a 1955 teenager:
Assuming you have a 48-50 saw blade, run it about 500 rpm. The blade sings when running at the speed for
which it was hammered.

Your WC is underpowered for this combination, so maybe your Grandpa ran it slower.

When you saw, move the log at constant speed - that is, don't ease off and let the WC recover, and then saw
fast enough to slow it down. You can't saw with a dull blade.

You will learn a lot - maybe we can even give you some answers.

Blades are hammered for what RPM they are going to be run,for accurate cutting the more power the better.WC is way under powered from what sawmills I have been around.
