I totally reconditioned my 65 New Holland baler last winter. New bushings, pins, chains, bearings etc. 4700 ran through it so far this year and got my first broken one today. It was when it changed twine balls. One thing that makes for no broken bales is dry hay. And I mean it is dry, dry, dry this year here in So. central Mn. The Mn. river usually runs from 8 to 10 ft. deep thru Mankato. The reading yesterday was 13

I was thinking boy thats my idea of a Drought when the river gains three feet but it didnt take long to figure you meant 13 inches . Holy cow that dry as a popcorn Fart about the same shape we are in right now . Finally got a little rain we are up to about 5 or 6 or a little more inches for the last 14 months including the snow we didnt get . Wonder when its going to break ??

Im upstream of him 30 miles or so. Very spotty rains this year, Im dry too. Corn just shut down, will be corn but it will be small kernels. Beans need rain or will stay so small will be hard to combine the tiny beans.

Been 6 years since we have seen the river banks of that river, basically had a 6 year flood around here. A road on a 25 year flood plain was flooded out 3 times in the past 6 years. So we probably needed a drought to balance out.

Doesnt make it any more fun tho.

Good job on the baler! My NH 270 keeps pumping out bales, could use a good going through and attention but does well.

We have gotten a little rain but to late and at the wrong times to do anything any good . Got two inches at the house Monday and an inch and a half out to the summer range . I figure floods are good to help recharge aquifers although probably not fun at the time

We finally got a really good amount of rain from the last Tropical storm and the good part is those storms tend to change the weather patterns.Fall pastures are looking a whole lot better.

yes, I get it custom baled and it pushed everything back. He also had trouble finding anybody for unloading in the barn. Gov't handouts I'd guess.
Might be able to get a little in next week but the weeds went crazy with all the rain and heat.

Western Ohio does not seem to be having that problem, at least in area I am in. See a lot of fields that have gotten wet several times. Mostly the heavy windrows that get a bit and will dot dry out before the next bit comes. No grean left when it finally gets baled.

Got home this evening, been gone all week. My buy mowed about i/3 of it today. At least it's something. BIG field up the road from me hasn't been touched yet.

Boy, weather is all over the place in Ohio this year. Way too wet here in lorain county. Been fighting mud since middle of June. Isnt much fun rutting up the hay fields.

Middle picture the baler looks sad. Here I am, Im waiting, but no grass to get!

Central Kentucky. I have never seen this much rain in August. 9 inches in the last 10 days, including 3 inches Thursday.
Everything is lush and green here, instead of the usual August brown-out. I will get a 3rd cutting in some grass hay fields...a first for me.
