metering wheel trip arm

The bales from my New Holland 269 baler became very erratic in size last time baling. I checked the trip arm and disc and found that the striations on the arm are just about smooth. Were the striations on the arm machined there or imprinted from years of baling hay? I am planning on replacing the disc, but would also replace the trip arm if it has the striations. OR if someone can explain a farmer engineered fix maybe I'll go that route. Thanks for your replies. gobble

Thanks Charlie, I had already scoped out the parts at Messicks, just wanted to know if I should also order the arm. I went ahead
and ordered the disc and the arm. Probably should have done that a couple years ago as my bales have been inconsistant for some
time. thanks. gobble

Hey, Hay Hay Hay, I went ahead and ordered the arm. The picture in Messicks online parts detail does not show serrations. We will see in a few days when it arrives. thanks for your reply. gobble

Found a photo.

Delta Red, thanks for the response. I have a friend that would rather jury rig something several times and think he is saving money. lol I ordered new disc and arm.

The wheel on my MF 224 is the same thing. Ten years ago I filed the grooves and was done with it. It has been working just fine ever since
