Dearborn 14-42 side-delivery hay rake

Problem: how to discuss this without sounding like a total idot. Just bought a Dearborn 14-42 hay rake and after power washing off the grease, I found that the two halves of the engagement "clutch" which are activated/engaged via two cables operating an in/out cam, have been welded together. Result is that unless the drive chain is removed, the rake is in operational mode all the time. I am restoring it to pull behind my restored 1943 Farmall H and it will be used for display/parade only. Looking for replacement part(s).

Sell the rake and buy a good one. Like an IH # 10,or 15.Or add another link to make the chain easier to flip on/off. It IS a flat 'farm chain',right? At least
you have a way to disconect. I have a JohnDeere with a gear box that is stuck in gear with no way to disconect, short of a total (gearbox)rebuild.

It's welded because the jaws are worn so bad they will not engage any more.A friend has that same rake with the same problem. That rake is pretty old, from the
1940s. I doubt there are any parts available. Finding good used would be equally hard. For paradeing, haveing it run would be cool. But should you? Some kid could
get caught up in it and get hurt.Parade rules may even forbid haveing it run.
