851 Front Loader

Hello everyone, I have a question concerning the loader. Does anyone know if it's normal for the hydraulics to only work with the engine rpms bumped up. At idle they won't work at all. I have to rev up to around 1/2 throttle to get much of a response.

With the old ford gear type pumps they are not up to much when they are new . I found the same thing with my old ford they are just a simple gear pump over the years the gears wear and the pump housing wears and that decreases the already low output

Do you have a crank shaft driven pump?? It could be going bad or the relief valve open or low on fluid. My 841S has a loader on it and it works at any RPM but is slower a lower RPM and if your where it is cold it can be very slow to work when first fired up due to the oil being cold and thick

Most of the time by the you buy parts to rebuild one if you can get the parts it costs as much to rebuild the pump as a new one costs with a warranty

Last time I checked for a kit I found it to be cheaper to replace the pump then it was to rebuild them
