JD 350 Drive Head yolk Material

Ive been working on rebuilding my mower and have discovered 2 small cracks in the drive head yolk. I would prefer to stick weld the cracks but not sure which rod to use. Is the yolk cast iron or cast steel?
Thanks
Todd

John Deere is known for using a special cast iron called "nodular iron" aka "ductile iron" in many castings where high strength is required.

The link below from esab has some info on welding it.

I'll try again.
