Just a thought I had today. How many horse power to run a Woods 5 ft finish
mower? The brain storm(BS for short) is a engine mounted on the mower deck. Yes
I know it will need to be geared up for the 540 PTO

Are you wanting to put a lawnmower engine on it? My opinion would be at least 20HP depending how tall and thick the grass is.

I agree with 20 hp. I’m guessing you mean gear down to 540 rpm.

Just buy a late 8N and put the mower on it and leave it.
Mine does great with a 5 foot finish mower.

Oddly I've thought about this also, have a woods and a 2 cylinder Wisconsin engine but haven't put it together yet

X2. Waste of time and money trying to re-engineer a 3 point mower. Anyway, Swisher puts a 14.5hp Kawasaki on their 60" tow behind.

Several company's made powered and tow behind mowers

But I prefer to leave mower on designated tractor even though I do love Wisconsin twins

One of my favorite parts of local tractor show when I was little was their fleet of farmall super a culti vision tractors with belly mounted mowers to maintain the 60 acre grounds.

Just sharing my thoughts and memories.

I mow with a 60 in deck now,but a lot of the place could be mowed with an offset, add on mower. I do not want a 3 point,they track up the yard and are a pain to get around stuff. Just another winter project to think about.
