JD1219 cutter timing

This is hard to describe. I hope this is fairly clear with careful reading:
My pitman broke. I got a new one. I did NOT mark where the old broken one came off. Now I'm not sure of the "timing" of the sickle.
NB BOTH (inner and outer) ends of the sickle have section and a half sections.
My timing looks right in that each section is dead center on each guard.
BUT, on the inner end (of the section and a half) the half section is centered on the first guard at the inward end of the stroke. This means a section and more are above the inner shoe.
On the outer end the section and a half --the half section extends beyond (to the outside of) the end guard at the furtherest reach of its stroke.
Does this seem correct???
Thanks for the help, Kelly

I dont know on JD, but my new holland has mark on the yoke A and a mark on the pitman arm B,

Worth a look on yours to see if there are any marks!

That sounds right to me if I'm understanding you. I have a 1207 and the inner end has just a angled plate in place of a section. Outer end has a 1-1/2 and the half tooth is outside the last guard when it moves to the right.
