Discmower cutter bar bent

Is it possible for a discmower cutter bar to be warped upwards in the middle about a inch. It has all new blades it's a 5 shell cutter.the inside and out side cut lower than the three shells in the middle the three shells in the middle are new that's why I replaced them but it still cuts the same any ideas

Rick. anything is possible, but after running disc mowers for longer than I care to remember have never seen a bent bar. Are you running straight or curved knives? Have run into a problem when I installed the knives wrong. Just saying what I've seen. I also have an HM 235.

Maybe the new shells have been modified with a subtle design change? Maybe the bearings are a little thicker, or something like that?

(Just giving you the working engineer's viewpoint. I work in electronics, and products that the company that I work for have schematics that are up to something like.... Revision K...

:)

Given that each time something is revised, we go to the next letter of the alphabet...)

Maybe your new shells are just "Revision B" and will work just fine, but have a subtle change to them.

I would guess the knives are different or bent. I’ve heard the turtles can get bent, or dished, so they are raised or lowered around the center nut differently.

Anything is possible, but a warped bar would put a lot of wear and maybe noise on your gears or shafts, whatever drives your cutter. I’d think that would not go well at all and be noticeable.

This brings up the obvious point. Even after I said what I said above... Paul's comment reminds me that we should consider... maybe the new ones are running as intended, and the outside ones are cutting a little differently because of wear and tear or warpage... or whatever.

It may not be a revision difference, just the difference of new vs. worn.
