John Deere Big # 4 sickle mower

Is there any way to determine what year it was made?
Z927-H is cast into the metal cross bar along with John Deere #4.
I would like to find an owners manual.
As I don"t have the "required 2 horses" I am using my 24 horse (HP) 1948
8N Ford. I tested it yesterday and it worked great.
I will post drone video next time I use it.
Thanks, Tom/Idaho

I don't think there is any way to tell year but that is the last model horse drawn mower Deere ever made ending production around 1950. It followed the No. 2 mower that was an open ger mower and I used to have the years that change was made but not any more. The No 2 replaced the Dain mower in the line and the No 1 and No 3 were the smaller mowers. They did make a tractor Big 4 mower with wider wheels and different gearing for tractor speeds. Hope you are not trying to mow as a faster speed than a horse's walk.

There was an ad on the internet for a BIG #4 listed as 1934 at an auction.
Yes, I am using the horse speed and not the tractors.
Thanks for your info.
