Brush hog/rotary mower advice

I have a 66" brush hog/rotary mower. Probably had it for 20 years. I don't use it much but I get tired of it scrapping the ground on turns, etc. It has a single crazy wheel in the center of the back. Has any put two crazy wheels in the back or any kind of wheel in the front to stop the skids from scrapping the ground? Thanks in advance.

Larry, by far most three point hitch rotaries have one wheel in the back. I have had the same Woods mower for over thirty years. Do you have chains installed that attach to the tractor at the same point as the top link, and to the mower at the same point as the lift arms?

They do put dual crazy wheels on some 3 point mowers that are 84"+ wide, but that doesn't mean you can't put them on a narrower 3 point mower.

Your dragging problem sounds like adjustment/operation issues, having two caster wheels likely won't fix. Is your cutter an actual Bush Hog or another brand? What model is it? Most manuals give instruction on setting deck height, adjusting the deck level and pitch. If you can confirm brand and model someone may have a manual to help you, if you don't have a manual. I think those adjustments are similar for most cutters and the skids are usually run at 1" or more off the ground, when the lift arms and faster wheel are at the right heights.

My 6 foot, 3 point hitch cutter (single rear caster wheel) doesn't drag the skids, unless I let the lift arms down too far or am cutting close for some reason. That's where the limiter chains, showcrop mentioned, can prevent lowering the arms too far and letting the skids drag.

If you are trying to mow a surface like a lawn, a finish mower that runs on 4 wheels is a better choice. Just my thoughts

It is a Big Bee Agro Series. I think it is made in Alabama. I probably do run the skids an inch or so off the ground. However, when I make turns, the deck tips
and drags. I just have to remember to lift it up each time. There is nothing about limiter chains in the manual I have, and I do not see a place attach them to
the deck. Maybe I can figure something out. I have two belly mowers for mowing the yard and the buildings but they do not work for mowing the tall weeds and
grass in my pasture. Thanks.

Nope. Got any pictures. My mower is Big Bee, and I do not see anything about limiting chains in the manual. Maybe I can figure out something. Thanks.

Found a YouTub video on "stay chains." Looks like an easy possibility. I have a quick hitch on my tractor and I might have to work around it a bit. Thanks

You may need to adjust your tail wheel a little so that it is holding the rear up higher. Your problem could be that in order to have the wheel on the ground that your front has to ride too low. If you don't have adequate length of pin on the mower to accommodate the plate on each side that the chain hooks to those pins are easily replaced with longer ones.
