Oil for a Super H

What oil are others using in The old tractors? I have a super H I want to change the oil in but I'm afraid to use High Detergent oil and can't seem to find any No detergent oil. I've heard stories of HD oil messing up engines by loosening up sludge. I don't want to mess up a good engine.

Drain the oil,stick a finger in the pan,if gunk comes out pull the pan and clean it out. If you just get dirty oil fill it with 10W40 and call it done.

I use 15W-40 Delvac in all mine.

I use SAE 30 in my H. When I plowed snow with it, I'd use 10W30.

By this time it is likely to have detergent oil in it already. Been decades since non detergent oil was common so use it. Me I use O'Reilly's brand 20W-50 in almost every engine i have

Thanks to all, looks like it gets 15-40 Rotella like everything else.

But make sure it is Rotella T, with the zinc to protect the cam lobes and lifters.

15/40 fleet diesel,it has zinc. Doesnt have to be delo.

What ever oil you select will be better than the oil when the tractor was new. As long as you don't go too thin, you will be fine.
