2 PT hitch VS. Drawbar Hitch

What is the advantage of a 2 point hitch over a simple drawbar and drawbolt hitch? Looking at a few No-till drills and some have been 2 point hitch. I am just naturally inclined to the familiar drawbar hitch, which seems more robust and tough. Thanks.

Both IH-Farmall and Allis Chalmers had their own versions of a 2-point hitch. (Many smaller IH products also had 1-point Fast Hitch-es)

I always suspected that as a Manufacturer, producing such a limited option, locked your Customers into purchasing your implements. Ford at the time was standardizing around 3-point hitch designs.

My 100 and 200 Farmalls both have the standard (smaller) 2-point Fast Hitch. The 240 my Dad had used a slightly taller point, however, there was a Factory shim that could be inserted into each receiver, and allow you to use the smaller / older 2-point implements.

There are many of these still in use around here. Not so many Allis Chalmers around here anymore.

I had 2 point Great Plains coulter caddy. I think the 2 point gives easier coulter depth adjustment.

I had two point disc mower conditioner. It was quick and easy to hook up and you could turn it very sharply.

Are they not like they tried to make a true 3 point hitch for manoverability but then they were way to heave for the tractor to either lift or keep front end on ground so added the wheels on back to carry the weight using cylinders to lift the unit level. I just have seen things advertised and thought would be very unhandy. I would go with a standard pull type hitch. So I did not have to have a lot of weights on front of tractor.
