I have a Farmhand 2 wheel front mount hay turner. It looks like it can be set up to
mount to either right or left side of the tractor. Mine is currently set up to mount
on the right side. My question is this, since I swath in a clockwise direction
wouldn't it make more since, when turning the windrows, to turn them to the left or
outside instead on flopping one almost on top of the next one to be turned? Just
curious as to why mine might have been set up to turn to the right. Thanks

I thought I was the only one that uses a windrow turner like that. I used and still have a Farmhand turner just as you described. I also retired mine and built a new one 5 years ago or so.

Both of mine are mounted on the right side. 99% of the time when I turn my rows I start in the middle and roll them in, so I'm going clockwise.

I haven’t used one of them in about 50 years. But I’m thinking if you mount on the left the angle of the wheel arm mounts in the main frame will be incorrect.

Never saw one personally but in catalogs if remember correctly all were on left side. So when raking clockwiseon the left you were turning the row just to left same as if ysing end of rake real to flip row over as you were starting on outside of field going to center. Were the ones mounted on right side have been done that way to allow better acces to flywheel on hand crank JD tractor?

Our was on the right side and yes it’s easier to throw them away from each other rather that on top of each other
