Well Saturday I was Custom cutting for a guy 4 miles down the road. I've cut for him off and on for a few years now. I stopped and helped him move the last of the sprinkler pipe out of the way so I could keep cutting.

He looked at me and says "dont you run a NH little baler?"
"yes I have a couple why?"
"Have you noticed the one on the canal bank on the other end of this place?"
"Ya if i hadn't seen it id of hit it!"
"well its been sitting there for a while and we have no use for it.. It needs a tire on the pickup side.."
"OK so what are you telling me"
"Well are there any parts on it you might use?"
" lots of parts are common on those little balers"
"Ok you can have it, get it out of there.. We want to put a new pump in that general area."

So I finished cutting and took the swather home.. I found a tire that would bolt on, a handman jack and cordless impact, had the wife fallow me with the pickup. I grabbed the closest tractor (dad's ford 841) that wasnt hooked to anything.

less than an hour from starting the tractor to being back to the shop and hosing the mouse nest out of the tool box.
Its a 268, not an exact match to my 277's, but the knotter and needles will interchange so it was well worth dragging it home. Who knows I may even grease it, oil the chains, throw some twine in it and see if it will bale..

That’s a heck of a good deal . I traded repoing some equipment for a new Holland 648 round baler it was running and I baled several hundred bales with it but he originally wanted 4500$ for it and I wasn’t wanting to spend that much but this will end up being a pretty good deal

WOW SV!! just how many balers and configurations do you use?? i've seen you use a 14x18 little baler, 2x3 D1000 bales, round bales, and?? you got a hesston loaf maker or a 3x4/4x4 hidden somewhere??

I had the line on a loafer actually but I think it might have got scrapped . Was just looking at a Hesston 4910 tonight guys used to pull Hesston 4x4 balers with 5020 John Deere’s I might start looking for one . I like round bales for my own stock because they keep well and don’t need tarped . I like little bales for the horse corral because they are easy to feed and easy to see how much you are feeding . And I hate having hay down and no baler with the 3 I should have an option . I would probably trade the d1000 and the new Holland 648 on a John Deere 535 round baler if I could, fiat cnh parts support is a fng joke everything is 2 weeks out with freight makes me so mad I could choke somebody that’s why I bought the Hesston because I swore new Holland had seen its last day on this place but It turns out that wasn’t a bright move either so new Holland it is for now anyway At least they were a decent design even if you can’t buy a part for it .

If you are waiting 2 weeks and still paying freight that is a dealer problem, not a manufacturer problem.

just Fyi

After hauling 3x3 3x4 and 4x4 I prefer the 3x4 over the others... 3x4 are more stable then 3x3, I can stack 3x4 3 deep and gain another foot of height over 4x4's on the semi's. I understand the Idea of having options with hay on the ground... between dad and I we have 3 operational NH 277's and 3 operational NH 2000 3x4's. Ive been known to run all 3 277's in the same day..

How parts get ordered and whether /how much freight gets charged is determined by the dealer with customer input, not CNH.
If you actually worked at a dealership and knew anything about how the parts system worked you would understand.
It’s been pretty much the same deal since well before I started in 1996.
If a dealer doesn’t offer a no freight charge stock order option for parts he is pocketing 100% of what he is charging, or he is too stupid to use the stock order option.

I like the 4x4 or 3x4 better than the smaller ones because they are easier to load the 4x4 has the best capacity of any I’ve ever ran and they are the most popular here takes a big tractor to keep when running at top capacity 200 or 225 works best but I could get along with a little less
