jd 336 wire baler wire rollers question

I've completed baling straw for the year and in using my JD 336 baler I've had some missed/broken bales wherein it appears the needle missed the wire to take it to the knotter. Using my owner's manual I readjusted the rollers under the bale chamber so the wire is in a straight line on both sides. What I notice is the 3 rollers on each side have side play and it that normal? All of them spin and are not frozen tight. I'm thinking they should be replaced. Any assistance is always appreciated.

You're correct after many, many bales have been baled the guide rollers wear on each side plus the rollers that require bushings wear on the bushings. Another thing you can check in relation to needles missing wire under bale case is to be sure needle frame has little to no no side to side movement on pivot points of needle frame. I usually install washer with large enough center hole to fit on pivot bushings to remove any slack.

Thanks, TX Jim for your reply. You brought up a good point about side to side movement on the needle frame. When I look at the rollers in the needles I will be replacing, JD Parts manual shows a "screw" (#E11380). When I look at my baler needles it appears there is a rivet used instead to fasten the roller and washer. Was that another alternative that was used? I didn't see any sub parts in the JD Parts manual. Thanks again.
