JD 350 Sickle Mower

Hi all. My neighbor has a JD 350 sickle mower for sale. I hooked it up yesterday to try it out, but the belt is so loose it won't drive the sickle. Anyone know how to adjust it? If it works like it ought to, I'd like to buy it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Take a look at the photo below.

Loosen the two nuts.

Apply your favorite penetrate if necessary inside the cast iron and tap the steel with a small hammer.

Be patient - penetrate needs to get to the key.

No heat was used on the cast metal.

Loosen the cap nut and tighten the bolt.

If you get the belt too tight, then use a bigger hammer and block of wood at the other end.
