Mystery Plow

I picked up a plow from an estate sale. Just looking to find out what kind it is. Its a 3 bottom with 3pt hitch, that needs a few new parts. I am just using it for food plots so I dont need to go very deep.

I have an 870 4WD John Deere, its not quite big enough. But I am only doing a few acres.

(quoted from post at 15:04:13 07/12/20) look on the back of the moldboards for a stamp or part number.

There is half an ID plate that says 36D11 but thats all I can make out? And yes Id did look for info on that and came up with nothing.

Wow. Must not have rock with bottoms designed like that. Is the pic squished a little to make them so low/short?

No they are short. I thought the same thing. I really only need 6-8 of depth but a board or 2 needs replacing before o start. Some angle braces might need to be swapped out in the future.

From what I can see lookslike what they call a scotch bottom and it then should be a 10" cut furrow. And I think they only cut a 5" deep furrow. So 30" total cut and would be easier pulling than a 2=14" plow, only 2" wider but not plow as deep so would pull easier than a 2-14" unit. Are you by chance in Canada as that is where I understant most scotch plows were sold? Then red collar says Cockshutt.

I am in Vermont and we see a bunch of equipment come from Canada so this makes sense! Thanks for your help. Very appreciated. I feel a little better dragging it behind a 870 JD now that its probably only cutting 5 down.

Needs parts and it keeps sending me to Oliver parts companies?

What kind of parts? I don't know if Ploworx has any shares or moldboards or landsides for that type of bottom but if anybody is still making those parts it would be Ploworx. Mentiomed many a time on this section.

Oliver made very good plows. Other companies used Oliver bottoms in their plows, the frames might be different but the bottoms are basically Oliver.

Cockshutt was for a long time the Canadian arm of Oliver.

Oliver and Minneapolis Moline joined forces, and then White took over all 3 brands. new idea joined in and Allis Chalmers and all wrapped up into AGCO. AGCO
doesn’t support too much of the old stuff any more, they just have so many parts from 12+ different old brands. But you might find some stuff at an old dealer that has
been around forever and is now an AGCO dealer.

So you might find parts in any of those brands, as time moves on and the different names took over the different regions and branding.
