Never gave it any thought before but would they bite better if you installed them backwards of how you would install a tractor tire?

Yes they do, they're supposed to be
"backwards" for a ground drive implement

Put one of them on a trip lift JD plow. Has really deep tread and really bites. Probably a little over-kill.

I have a set like that on the NH 56 and car tires on a NH 256, just me, they act the same, but the car tires are cheaper. That new tire would look great

Mine doesn’t have enough traction in heavy hay I’d like

What is the difference between a 256 and a 56 ? Besides 50

I use old car tires also. I once broke the yoke at the gear box, when I had too much 'traction' . The car tires will slip easier IMO and protect the drive line a little bit. I rake some pretty heavy windrows at times. Mark.
