Krone 125 or 130 Round Baler - Anyone Run One?

Thinking about adding a round baler as our hay acreage is increasing and the labor pool (my family) is decreasing.

Anyone run a Krone 125 or 130 fixed chamber 4x4 round baler? Dry grass hay - what’s the good, bad and ugly? How much hp do you have in front of the baler? String or net wrapped bales?

Thanks!
Bill

Yes, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCUEeGboEbi9kpWVZIR5pjv9AaLWkyN0M">KRONE 125</a>.

Coastal Bermuda and Bahiagrass. The good is 4x4 bales are easy to move by hand, even by young teenager and/or wife. Most minor repairs can be done with a 13mm wrench. The bad is do not try to "pack" the bales too tight. Watch the bale density indicator very carefully.

I believe it requires 32hp minimum. We used 50hp tractors.

String wrap only; no net wrap option available. Strongly recommend 140wt tensile strength as per the owner's manual.

Hope this helps.

Bill, I round bale grass hay for my horses(the ones here on the farm). If you are selling round bales to horse people, the soft core 4x4's are easy to load in the back of a pickup and roll out easy in the aisle of a horse barn, for feed or bedding. I have a friend that just bought an older M&W 1500 twine baler at auction (sold too cheap to pass up). He loves it and uses it almost exclusively now, and leaves his much newer Gehl belt baler parked in the shed. I think the Krone and M&W are similar fixed chamber balers. As a horse guy, I go for sisal twine. I don't want poly twine to cut a horse leg, or net wrap on the farm. I am actually beginning to see a few round bales delivered to the race track, where as 10 years ago it was a no no.

I use a mw 1500-- same thing really. I have found it to be a good baler-- the tying mechanism can be problematic but overall low maintenance and reliable.
