Needin your thoughts on AC 303 baler

Had a 302 for a little while. It was my first & didn't know much about them. Couldn't get the RH knotter to keep tying so I sold it off & got my 47. Did not know at the time that the knotters were essentially NH or I would have kept the darned thing. The paint was perfect & the 44 thrower had just been gone through with new bearings & belts. I do know it ate like a pig & was built like a big ol' tank. If the price is good, you might want to look into it.

IF your sure that they used NH knotters on it, that sure interest me on it. $1000. Do you know what year it would be, and thanks

They were essentially NH knotters. Not 100% NH. Definitely check into that down on the Allis board for better info. They were made in the mid 60's. $1000 for a good working 303.... maybe. I'm a bit hard to convince when it comes to baler prices these days. I did just see an IH 440 All-Twine bring $1850 at an auction a couple months ago. No thrower, chute only. Didn't know what to think. Suppose they aren't making them anymore. Well, at least the old ones. :vD

Left you a video link below.

Bale Chief....

I’d pay 1850$ for another all twine that runs like mine

You must load them by hand? I was going to ask which Stackliner or Cruiser you have until I notices the bales were laying twine up.

I paid $750 for my 47 with thrower & the guy threw in a wood throw rack. That was back in '09. Just missed out on another 47 with thrower at an auction that only brought $550. Looked like it was new. A feller at the auction approached me after I lost out on the "expensive" baler & said he had an identical one for sale. Went to look at it & it was nice, but he wanted the $750 for it. Though was a bit hesitant, he assured me that it wasn't a Monday baler & will tie until you don't want to look at the hay anymore & keep going. He was right it's still going today. There was a bit of a hiatus where it wasn't working right, but as I said before, the darned thing fixed itself. Still bugs me to this day.

Mike I believe that knotters on balers work on voodoo more than science in the first place . This little ih I drug home has missed maybe ten bales in 1500 and that’s including the ones it missed while it was still getting twine fed through it and I’ve broke a few when they got to tight and the string couldn’t hold or the straw got really wet last fall and broke a few because they got so heavy . I have a bale elevator that I hook to my big trailer let’s me load faster with 2 guys than I could before with 4 or 5 guys and it’s easy work to

I had a 303 for several years. No more issues than any other older square baler. If you are lucky enough to have a former AC dealer nearby that will help a lot. Also check around and see if there are any in local salvage yards.

Not saying it could not be good now but do not expect to find any repair parts fot it any place But just not soldat dealers every ware so no parts. If you are a gambling man then go for it, concervity man forget anything except NH or JD. Anything else forget as no parts even tho some say they can get them.
