NH 855 chain removal

Things you think about while baling hay...

If I wanted to pull the chains so I could replace all the idler bearings in my 855 (had one go up in smoke a year ago, I think about it a lot while baling), do I need to remove the bars? The book says to, but I think they figure you're replacing the chains.

Thanks

That chain is a dirty heavy double sob even if you get it out you probably won’t get it back in without taking the bars out and while you have them out replace all the bolts that hold the tubes with a grade 8 carriage bolt with a locknut and blue loctite . I’d leave a couple of tubes in place might make it easier to keep in line
