Putting the 499 on a different tractor. What is the recommended distance between end of pto stub to center of drawebar pin?..can't find my manual

14" for 540 and 16" for 1000 small shaft.

You need a drawbar 'extender'. You need more room/length than a standard pto distance,because of the pump hanging on there. I have mine mounted so the hoses are relatively straight when cutting. At a standard drawbar length,the hoses tend to get kinked,and the pump can get damaged when turning tight on the ends.My drawbar is extended 10" beyond the normal 16" spec for a total of 26" from end of pto shaft to center of the hole/pin in the drawbar.The extra length will also allow you to turn your tractor 90 degrees to the swather tounge. If/when you find your book,the drawbar extender will be shown. You can make one from a heavy chunk of bar steel.1"x2 1/2,or 3" will do,Drill 2, 1" holes,and 0ne 3/4" hole in appropriate places.

Plus the required drawbar extension. IIRC that adds 8”.
