New Holland 451 Sickle Header Bolt

Hey all, I have a new holland 451 that I recently purchased for mowing hay. Does a great job when it works but having a hard time keeping the header bolt that bolts to sickle bar keeping tight. I have used lock washers and even jam nuts and still works it way loose. What am I missing? What should be there to keep it from doing that?
 
It is a special tapered bolt with a tapered washer on the nut side, must be the
correct pieces or it will ruin the head of the mower. Bolt must also be tight,
not just snug but tight
 

Thank you for the info. Glad I am getting somewhere. Does anyone know a part number for this? Im looking online and can't find bolt with nut.
 
Go to NH dealer and get the right thing,some are tapered on both sides some just one side.Is the bushing in the blade in good shape?Need to get it right or it'll end up tearing up a bunch of very expen$ive stuff.
 
Yes, I actually broke the sickle blade early summer and replaced with new sickle and header bar with bushing. All that is in good shape. Im glad I ask before I messed up a lotta stuff.
 
Actually, the tapered "washer" goes under the bolt head. The nut appears to be a common lug nut. When I asked for a new bolt/nut for my mower, the local NH dealer reached in his bolt bin and brought out a grade 8 NF thread bolt.

It would only take a few minutes to wreck some expensive parts if all is not right.

Adapter for a torque wrench.
 
According to the picture of the mower head it should be called a knifehead
bolt.I bought them at the New Holland dealer before but its been a long time
ago. PJH i really like your wrench to torque the nut! Wish i had thought of that
when i was running a 451!!
 
Had the same problem with my 451, takes a special bolt and washer. The socket where the blade adapter fits has to be clean no rust.
