The gear on the back side of the wobble box broke off the bolt snapped off, and the chain bound up between box and the frame. Is this something that will be repairable? What all needs to be removed to get the wobble box out? It looks like there are the two 15/16 bolts at the bottom and maybe 2 mor bolts that may be threaded into the frame. Is there anything I can do in the future to prevent this from happening again. Any input will help was told the NH492 was a good piece. Not sure how it happened didnt make it 15 acres from the time I bought it till it broke. Not sure what lead up to it breaking I was not there. Was pulling it with a MF 175 my FIL was the first to run it. Not sure how fast he was pulling it. Just got a phone call and said the pick up rake quit turning and it was all plugged up. Any knowledge, insight, or wisdom is appreciated.

Thank you,
Doug

Hi Doug

You will need a parts book, other short term option is to use the new holland site and search parts, good diagrams there. Not totally sure what you are talking about chain drive to wobble box? Mine has been a good machine only minor issues. Pre seasons checks are a must on any equipment.

Messicks has exploded parts views too.
Joe's machinery in PA. May have parts.
Worth a Google and phone call. Not
everything they sell is in their web site

i had a 489 that the chain tensioner bolt broke and the chain did the same thing and it broke the shaft the sprocket attaches to. i took the gear box
off and took it to the dealer. they said it would be cheaper to buy a new gear box because of the amount of labor involved to change the bearings and
put it back together. this was 25-30 years ago when labor was $30/an hour. you should get prices before rebuilding yours. i looked on the new holland
parts pages and the 489 and 492 gear boxes have the same part number. so if you can find a salvage machine the gear boxes will interchange.we use to
cut 120-180 acres 3 times a year. we used the 806,856 and 1086 because were the only tractors that had wide fronts. on first cutting hay we would run
at 4.2-4.5 miles/hour in 2 and 3 cutting we went 5 mph.
