Mike No I do not have contacts for cast planter plates. The Amish prefer the plastic. And I was gone for a time and when I got back on could not reply to you because of YT computor problems.

Good Morning Leroy,
Why do the Amish prefer plastic? Guess I never understood why they made plastic plates to begin with. Guess if plastic is ok, I might just buy the expensive ones off of Ebay, have them 3D scanned & printed. Then I can relist them & try to recover some of my costs. Do you know what kind of plastic they are? I'm thinking delrin might work.

Hope you had a good time while you were out & about.

Mike

That's what I was wondering about. Longevity. I have several pairs of the old cast plates & they're all in good shape. No signs of wear. Which leads to another thing that I wondered. How many acres can you put on those plates before they show signs of wear? Cracked ones I've seen. Pulled from within a scrap pile or there was water in the seed can that froze, but not from use & they weren't worn.

Many hundreds of acres and not wore out. They call them lustran so I think that is type of plastic. And for why, it is to get the correct size plate for the corn that they cannot find the correct cast plate for the grade of corn. A few years I was at a store and they had places to hang every number of the plastic plates made, yes a few spots were empty but it was fall and might have sold the one to match the number on the hook for the plate. I don't think you have enough acres to wear a set of plates out. And being gone it is to my girl friends house. And she does not have internet.
