Last year I thought that it was time to replace the twine knives on my MF 224 baler so I got a new pair. They were somewhat expensive, and they didn't seem really sharp. The cut didn't appear to be really sharp either, but even though the knots didn't look quite like I would like, they held. This spring I decided to revisit them and took them out again. The manual says that they need to be razor sharp, but they were nowhere near. So I spent some time on them with sharpening stones and a file, and got them much better. Do you think that they are purposely shipped dull and that the technician is supposed to sharpen them before installing?
