Correct twine for baler

The person I purchased the New Holland 311 baler from said they
always ran 7200 baler poly twine In the baler. Stopped by Tractor
Supply and they only had 9000 poly for purchase besides the sisal
and the 20000 for the round baler.
So the question is will this be a problem?
I wonder twine holder and about the finger that wipes the knot off.
What’s your experience. What should I look for in the way of
problems?

All I can tell you is i have an old Case 200 baler late 50's early 60' vintage. always tied great with 9000 sisal. then is started missing a few and kept getting worse and assumed it was just getting worn out. Someone told me to get the orange plastic twine and now it ties better than ever. Others have had the same experience in this area.

Someone said they put rust flakes in the orange twine and it makes it work better I have heard that a few times I really do not know because all the small bale twine is orange around here never seen anything else

Try the 9000 plastic. I used sisal for a long time until I couldn't get it anymore. Went to plastic and my knotting issues pretty much disappeared.

We sold both Case and then later NH balers,, I also used to run 120,000-150,000 of small bales through my NH balers,, used 9000 plastic only,, then started seeing the diameter of the twine change throughout the balls of twine,, so I switched to 7200,, like it a LOT better,, as for either one you can adjust the twine disc tension to use either size and will work fine,, as long as the brand of twine you use you may be fine or have headaches,, on plastic if the twine is being pulled through the twine disc before the tie is complete you Loosen the disc tension,, this is just opposite of sisal,, I only bale 400 plus straw bales any more,, since I switched to 7200 I can make a TIGHT straw bale like a brick every time and never break the twine or lose a knot,, just what I have found,, the last 50 years,,

When we got our 273 I tried using
the same sisal as before. Had tying
issues, my wife said try the plastic
twine we had around, within 5 cycles
knotting issue went away. I'm going to switch from 9000 to 9600 and see if it
helps with making bales a bit tighter.

I had been using Briden twine, and then one day when I didn't want to drive an hour to get the Briden I tried what Tractor Supply Company carries . That stuff at TSC was horrible. No matter how much tension I put on, it was like trying to hold bales together with rubber bands, it was so stretchy. The knots didn't hold either. We broke so many in the mow it was comical. The Briden is probably double the price, but it's worth it. Then I found some blue plastic twine at our mill, and it works as well as the Briden and is a lot cheaper. It's thicker than the TSC stuff and doesn't stretch. I can't tell the difference between it and Briden. So if what you get doesn't work, don't give up; try other brands until you find one that does. Not all plastic twine is the same.

Don't know where you're located, but the mill where I get the good blue stuff is in Litchfield, Michigan.
