Will a category 2 quick hitch make my disc mower easier to hook/unhook? Something has to get easier. I'm too old to keep fighting this battle.

One would think by the very nature of the name "quick hitch" that it would be easier but I have found that's not always the case. With or without quick hitch, sometimes you get lucky, sometimes not.

Shouldn't have worked on a Sunday........All I wanted to do was get the cutter off, and roller on. Spent most of the afternoon fighting it.

Disc mowers are pretty tough to mount, if you do it enough you get a rhythm to it but it’s still tough. They have that crooked hitch when they sit free. Then the chains to
hook up, etc.

I have found a hyd top link makes it much, much easier. You can get one arm on, and get the top link hooked easy, and then adjust things with the top link to get that
other bottom link in.

My understanding is that most quick hitch makers and also most disc mower manufacturers do not recommend using a quick hitch. The mower puts a great deal of
upward pressure on the left link, and the quick hitches just have a little pin in those little patches. They can’t take that much upward pressure.

I’m sure a lot get used, but I don’t think it’s recommended.

A quick hitch is definitely quicker. But I have found out, need to get left hand pin first. Back up a tad quicker to the left pin. Try to leave mower with left pin lower than right. Then be careful to not lift quick hitch up much. Then get out and latch left pin. Then the right pin will have to latch when you go ahead and lift hitch. Top pin has to latch also.

Most experienced (old ) guys around me have mounted their mowers on dollies to make hook-up easier. The Dollies can be spendiy but if you are like me sometimes ease of operation is worth it .
