Ih horse drawn mower

Hi I am working on a couple ih horse drawn mowers and i need some of them tapered bolts that keep the axles to the main gear where would a guy start looking for them thanks

hAVING NEVER TORN ONE DOWN THAT FDAR AS TO TAKE THE WHEELS OFF i DONT KNOW FOR SURE WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT. cOULD YOU SHOW A PIC?

I have been trying and trying but just can't upload pictures maybe I am doing something wrong but I have uploaded before and it worked for me

We have a IH originally a horse drawn mower, 5' cut circa 1947, I believe. It has been parked a few years and stripped for mower guards. I'm not sure if I will end up pulling it again. It was converted to a tractor pull since I can remember. I've never looked at the bolts you are refering to. Are they plow bolts with a tapered head?

They are inside the gear box they go into the main gear and through the axle shaft and they look like a 4 inch long tapered rod with thread on the smaller end that's the best I can describe it I will try to upload photo again

I know what you are talking about. Used on other things as well. Probably a 3/8" thread on them. MM rake I worked on had them in drive wheels holding hub to wheel. I was able to take a standard square shank plow bolt to get to fit and work. Back in 50's needed a couple for a JD row crop cultivator and a blacksmith made them as not avaible from Deere. Those were either 1/2" or 5/8" thread bolts. What model mower do you have? I have had 5 of the 6 models of 2 horse mowers IH built in the McCormick line. Only the 7 & 9 had enclosed gear boxes and Amish friend speclizes in rebuilding them for resale to the Amish so they might be avaible someplace, I don't know. Or for sure what they are called.
