Massey Ferguson 253 Disc Size?

Hello!
I've got a Massey Ferguson 253 and want to use a 3 point disc with it. What size, weight, and type would you recommend? I assume that an 8' with serrated discs would be good (1,200lbs?), but that's as deep as my knowledge goes : )
I appreciate your thoughts, including more appropriate implements.

Bonus if I can maneuver slightly around saplings

Happy to find additional info. Newbie to plowing.
Thanks!

For the conditions and usage that you describe you'll want the heaviest 8-ft 3-point disk you can find - I'd say the 1200 lbs you mention would be the lightest that would do the job. You
might take a look at the Monroe Tufline T4X. It's heavy and is available with a 9 inch blade spacing option which increases the weight per blade. Combining a 9 inch spacing in the front
with 7.5 inch in the rear gives you good penetration but a finer finish than what 9 inch front and rear would have.

Don't know how much weight you have up front but if you happen to "pop" the clutch a little after raising it you 'may' see the front tires come up off the ground;-) I've used a 7 foot MF 25 disc for years on a 245 without front weights and I have to be gentle on sharp turns with it raised up. I can only imagine an 8 footer would be all you want hanging off the back of your tractor. Go slow on turns or hills and you should be fine.

This Lelley power harrow weighs 2800 pounds on a certified
truck scale . Carrying it with a 3020 John Deere

Thanks all for your suggestions. I'll find a good and heavy (but not too heavy) disc and put some weight on the front.
