Found ad from 1957 for Welger baler. My dad bought a Massey 80 combine that had a Welger but he didn't want baler. Only picture I have seen.

That is interesting. I have a Welger 4x4 round baler. My brother inlaw was a dealer for several years. I never looked into any company history. Tom

Really makes sense, why waste a trip through the field baling the straw if the combine can do it for you.

Welger sold a bunch of roller & chain round balers here, were the popular for round bale silage when they came out, no belts to mess up handling wet hay.

It'd be OK in good clean straw I suppose, but some of the weedy oat straw I've baled,it would have folded the back right off the combine from the bales being so heavy. I've had stuff that had to lay for three days to dry.

Where are you located? In my 15 years here in WI mine is only the second one I have seen. Bought it very cheap on a consignment auction. Tom

Would work good behind many combines that like to leave trail of green. Grain would be saved.

Eastern Canada, we tended to get a lot of European brands imported.

If you look on the older CaseIH balers (New Idea style ones) like the 3450, they have a "Using Welger Patent" plate on them :) so Welger must have been quite early in round balers.
