4 Row Cultivator

I am restoring a 1949 JD Model B and I'm looking for a front mount 4 row cultivator for it.

Anyone have one or know where I might look for one?

If you put in where you are at it might help. USA? Canada? Europ? Austraila? YT is read all thoe places. But I can tellyou that setup for 40" rows with all shovels for that it is too much weight for it to lift. Now set for 30" rows it will handle it without rakers. I cultivated a lot of acres with a 49 B with first a 2 row set for 40" and later a 4 row set for 30" rows. Power would be adequet for the wide row but hydrolicks not.

My Dad's uncle ran a 4 row cultivator on a '49 B for years. It was still wide rows back then. I'm sure it was a load for it, but it got 'er done.

Did it have the full set of 21 shovels on it for orignal from Deere for wide rows or were some removed to make like the setup for 30" rows that used 11 shovels but that they had used a wider shovel? That would reduce the lifting weight. tractor had no problems with power, just weight lifting. That is why we did not use the rakers on it either.

I was just a teenager in those days, so don't know the specifics on how it was set up. I'm pretty sure it had the rear unit on it though.

I see the OP also has a thread on this in the JD forum. More replies over there.

Don't know where you live but if you are looking for a 4 row cultivator, I have one in very good condition with nearly new shovels.
