It appears the shaft from the rotor housing that the wheels connect to is broken. Anybody seen this problem. Thanks Carlisle

Well, Carlisle, I am laid up recovering from hip surgery so I have some time for detective work. I took a shot in the dark on the Messick's site and found that it does comes up as a tedder. I don't believe that NH ever made a tedder, but anyway I can see from the pictures of the parts that the 163 was built by Kuhn. I have a Kuhn tedder. Since you mention a wheel, that helps to narrow it down some, so I will guess that the part that is broken is the cast iron top part to one of the struts that one of the wheels attaches to. So in answer to your question I have seen one of those that was broken. From your description It could also be the cast iron part that holds the bearings and seals and the gears that attach to the shaft that the rotating plate attaches to, but I don't think that it is likely that you broke that.

part catalog does not show this, the shaft is pined to the rotor housing and the pin was sheared.
Thanks for the help Carlisle
