modifications to both grader blade and snow blower

I know some of you were talking about modifications { a while back} to both snow blades and snow blowers > using a metal "roller" on the sharp edge of the blade and blower to prevent stones from being picked up or gravel being moved off the lane while blowing or plowing.
Would you who have done such; mind commenting on how the modifications worked or paned out. I am thinking of doing the same to my MTD 42 inch walk behind blower; and also when I set up to put a blade on my Farmall, doing the same. My email is open so you may contact me directly with any information and insights.
Thank you. Wm.

A 1-1/2 inch pipe on a blade will assist in preventing the edge from grading the rocks on a driveway. A blower will not be as easy to modify because the edge of the pickup is very close to the rotating auger. Putting a pipe there will be in the road of the snow, or auger. I have put inline roller blade wheels on the edges of my blower, but do not use it in rocks. I think I would make wear shoes that were about 2 inches by 6 inches to "ski" over the stones leaving about 1/2 inch of snow. Jim

Thank you Jim.
I was having a difficulty with my walk behind 42 snow blower picking up stones here at the camp grounds I live on while clearing different personal driveways for older folk.[ picking up small 1/2 to 3/4 stone and becoming tired of hearing them go through the blower]. Tried a piece of gray electrical pvc conduit 1-1/2 inch fitted over the knife edge didn't work well but helped. I remember reading about the one used on a tractor blade but couldn't think where I read it. So I will do some adjusting to the shoes and see if I can also come up with a small rod or pipe to act as a roller under the blade edge. All the drive way have stones or fine stone dust and grit so I need to create a modification to stop picking up this material since the original type of shoe is not doing its job [ it was only made to work on pavement.]
Thank you again Jim for your insight.

I used a length of 2" pipe, cut a slot the length of it and fastened it onto my 3pt blade. It helps a lot, but if the ground/ gravel isn't frozen, it will pick up some rock, but no where near as much as the blade without it. Chris

Here?s mine

That's the idea I was trying on the 42 inch blower. I used a piece of 1&1/2 electrical pvc to start. It worked some what but discovered it needed to be smaller and better attached. Found it didn't pick up as many stones and sand. still working on it. I will keep your idea in my mind as I set up the blade and modify the blower further.
Thank you.
