what?s best way to cut native bunch grass for hay

I live in the Texas panhandle. Our place has a native grass mix consisting of blue gramma, sideoats grama, green sprangletop and some varieties of bluestem. All these grasses are bunch grasses. I was wanting to use a sickle mower to cut this grass for hay but not sure how a sickle mower will perform on bunch grasses. Looking for advice on best way to cut this type of grass for hay. Thanks!

It's been so many yrs since I utilized a sickle type cutter I'd really hate to go back to cutting with a sickle. If I was going to cut bunch grasses I utilize a shaft driven disc cutter such as a Krone AM283. If one is attempting to cut bunch grass with a belt driven cutter one should have some extra belts readily available.
