Hello All,

I am new to the forum and have been searching all morning long. I have found several posts about PHD's but cant find the one I just got. I feel its in rough shape but needing some help. Its a Winpower Model U PTO cable return PHD.

I am trying to restore it back to working, but I have have found no manuals (probably because its from 1940's) and no pictures other than auction sites (where most of them are disassembled or in worse shape than mine).

I am new to tractors and implements, but not restoring old machinery. I hope someone out there has one like this and/or has some advise where i can go to get information. I have looked up Winpower but it looks like they are all generators now.

I want to say thanks to anyone who replies now because it looks like i will be working on this project for a while.

I had never seen or heard of that brand PHD until yo posted about it. I Googled the name & saw a photo of the Winpower PHD. It vaguely resembles an old Continental Belton PHD that gearbox slide down pipe frame to dig hole then gearbox after hole was dug was raised with a cable.

I found the same thing when searching yesterday. I took most of it apart. Gear box still holds well, bearings all move freely, only paying roblem I have is the winch. Seems rusted and frozen. Hard to determine how it works and moves and how to engage the forward and reverse pull.

CB digger had a clutch between gearbox & auger that when mechanism shifted into raise position for gearbox the clutch powered the cable to raise gearbox with auger then when gearbox was fully raised clutch was disengaged & gearbox held a top of frame with a hook looking piece.
