Vicon disc mower

anyone got any info on Vicon 8 Ft disc mowers. Have a chance to buy one with a bad bearing on one disc and would like to know parts availability and reliability of machine. Thanks in advance for any info.
 
good luck that's one item I only buy new got bit twice on used, disc mowers and skidsteers do not buy used unless I have dealt with prior owner. that name has been bought out but lost track who has them now since I do not assemble farm equipment any more.
 
Try Tarver sales in Louisiana. They distributed Fella mowers, older model Fellas were vicons with different paint.
 
I have one and it is one of the most trouble free items on the farm. I only mow about 40 acres a year with it and it is shed kept. Other then blades I have not spent one penny on it in the last 15 yrs I've owned it.
 
We have a Vicon CM240 disc mower, built around 1990. Most everything is still available for it. They are really good mowers, in my opinion. Have three blades per disc. You may have to open up the cutter bar case to replace that bearing. A lot of bolts! We mow about 40 acres per year with it. Ours will mow a little more than 3 acres per hour. That is attached to a Massey Ferguson 253, mowing in 4th gear(low range). CM240=2.4 meters= about 8 foot cut.

I'm not worried about fixing it as long as parts are available and it is a dependable machine when done.
 
You and me both. I bought a two year old New Holland discbine that had been traded in on a larger center pivot model. A bearing went out the first time I used it,then when they fixed it,they must have missed some shrapnel because it tore up the whole cutterbar. Then I bought a Vicon at an auction. The first time I ran that,I ended up with little pieces of rubber all over the ground off the conditioning rolls until it tore off enough for the hay to start wrapping on them. That one was a total waste of money. I bought a brand new Kuhn,no trouble with that one.
