I know this isnt a usual farm machine, but surely many hundreds of them ended up on farms. Mines a
1973 Horse model. I got it for $15 at an auction. The engine is a Tecumshe? and is free and has
comp. My problem is that the cast pieces that go around 2 steel pins are frozen in place. They
need to move up and down on the pins to tighten and loosen the drive belts. Ive sprayed the pieces
several times with Blaster, banged on the cast pieces a bit, yet there still frozen in place. What
do you think about applying heat to the cast pieces, or dry ice to the pins??

I have one of those but my dad got it in 1972. Started out with a Tecumseh engine but my dad wore it out so it now has a Koler engine on it. Yes some heat and then ATF Then let cool and see what happens plus more ATF is it does not move and keep that up say every day for a week and I''ll bet it frees up

Pard, U sayin heat and add ATF everyday for a week, OR heat ONCE, then add ATF everyday for a week??

Heat it up once or so and ATF every day till it frees up. I keep a pumper oil can full of ATF for such things

Like Rich says, heating may break the bond, but soaking them should definitely work, ATF should easily soak in. Use care to not soak the belts or the friction disk for reverse and while working on freeing it, do not try and force with the lever, the lever will bend and break. Those slides will collect dirt when the tiller is in use if left with any kind of lube on them. Store the tiller under cover, in a dry location. Would not hurt to coat them with oil or a bit of grease, or anything suited for the purpose if it will sit a long time, will prevent them from seizing again.

Those pins will come out also. There is two bolts that go through the middle of those pins to hold them on the tiller. You can take the bolts out and that would allow you to try to tap the pins down or up with a dead blow hammer only or a good soft brass punch!!! Anything else will damage the steel pins. Those pins allow you to take the entire front part of the tiller off with the engine attached to replace the belts or friction disk for reverse, which ever you have.

I work at a small engine shop and the Predator motors are fine if you never want to fix it again. Any parts for this engine are not available through any standard parts supply. These are "look a like" Honda engines from China and 90 or more percent of any Honda parts will not fit on these engines. So if you buy a cheap engine, use it as long as you can and then toss it. We do not work on these engines since we cannot get parts. Most of the parts have to come through Harbor Freight and many take a long time to get. About the only think we fix on these are replacing the starter rope, oil and spark plugs. Air filters are unique and are difficult to find.

Ive got one wheel thats shot. Im told theres a pin I have to drive out, but I dont see it. Can U tell me where to look for it?

On the inside of the wheel there is a pin but they can be hard to see with years of dirt and grease and rust. Once you drive that pin out it is still very hard to get the rim off the axle
