JD Baler Belt Problem

Have a Deere 24T square baler with hydraulic pan thrower. What would make the drive belts walk off the pump pulley as shown in picture?

Idler pulley and bracket seem okay, flywheel has the grip strip and doesn't have any slop. Belts fall off within seconds of starting to run baler. Thanks

Pulley's properly aligned and staying aligned? In all likely hood the belts need replacing. When the belts wander on the combine that usually means it is time to replace them then everything goes as it should for a long time afterward. Gonna have to do the main drive to primary shaft on the 6620 combine sometime soon and it is a pain. Not looking forward to it and a three rib belt. Got the belt so just need to do the job.

Idler looks out of line. That is where the belt comes from to go onto the pump sheave. Idler looks to be leaning down toward the ground.

I'll work on the idler alignment, but some of it is photo angle and that I had the idler loose at that point to get belts back in the grooves. The belts appear to normally run to the outside of that pulley as the idler from a parts baler had the paint worn on the outer side as well. Thanks for the help.

Kerwin, you want to take a straight edge like a steel ruler or two foot level and put it on the edge of the flywheel and then towards the other pulleys one at a time to see how they align with the flywheel.

Since the belts run on the flywheel and not in it, yes, the idler is what is steering the belts as they track onto the flywheel. So, the shaft or bolt on bracket is probably bent. Or, maybe even shim the bottom out with a couple washers. I think I had to do the same thing when setting mine up for the first time.
