Im needing to replace the crank bearing in my MF 224 Baler, the housing has two grooves and the bearing will slide through but I can not get it to turn into place. Can anyone tell me what I need to do? I have sanded and greased the housing.

With a JD baler the crank bushing needs to be pressed in and reamed out to the pin size. I took mine to
the dealer to do. Alignment is critical.

I think Josh is asking about installing ball brg not bushing.

Josh are you positive you have the correct brg. MF 224 parts catalog shows a snap ring that holds brg in housing which would indicate brg taps straight into housing.

The snap ring goes on the crank where it goes though the bearing. Their isn't a snap ring to actually hold the bearing in. It would be impossible to press the bearing straight in, but their is a groove on each side that the bearing will slide through. I have tried sliding the bearing through and turning it into place with no luck.

use some emory cloth to clean up the inside of the bearing housing. You want it to be snug in there, but not super tight. A 12" long shaft in the hole should turn it in easily.

the bearing should have a curved outer race, I put in one every coupe years( I have 3 balers that use that same bearing). Agco wanted a small fortune for them, been buying from Shoup.

The bearing I ordered was from Amazon it's XiKe 6308-2RS

I have lightly sanded, and even applied grease and used a 36" pry bar and cannot get it to turn in.

The photo of brg on Amazon doesn't appear to have the correct curved outer race to go in housing & turn. It resembles the press in type with flat outer race.

Thank you very much. I ordered the bearing you listed from Shoup. After comparing what was left of my old bearing it was curved and the one I ordered was flat. When the bearing busted it also broke the chain and left indentations of the ball bearings on the crank where it goes through the bearing and smashed the groove where the snap ring goes but I'm hoping to be able to use a file or grinder to smooth everything back down.
