Pitman rod. Anybody know where in Okla I might find them for sale, or baring that where I can order one?

I've made my own many times. The sickle bar mower I have on my BA which is an A-16 has a metal one that I remade after the metal one that was on it when I got it broke. I used a piece of thin wall square tubing

Most likely, they are still available from the nearby FIAT dealer.

Get the part number for the wooden pitman arm from your parts book and google it. I did that with one needed for an IH C-21-P mower and found an on line source in OR or WAS as I recall. Price and shipping were reasonable as I recall. It costs money to run up and down the road so I let the big brown truck do more and more of it.

I make my own replacments. I buy a piece of 2x4 oak three feet long. Cut it in two (one for the next time), and go from there using the original as a template. The shaft is a little less than three feet long so be sure to make it the proper length. You must make it out of hardwood since spruce will last no time at all.

The thing about making your own is that you are making a copy of a copy of a copy as time goes by, and the length and hole location needs to be EXACT for the knife to be "in register" for the best cutting results., the least power needed and the least tugging and jerking and abuse of the mower.

NO problem if an exact copy is made of an "original", though.

I always got mine from Tractor supply too, but they dont carry them now, and this is strictly hay country. Luckily I found one that looked good enough to use.

What is a FAIT store?
