Needing some help from you experts as to what make and model this planter is. I was told it was a McCormick but I can t seem to match it to any photos I ve found of those. It has been converted from a pull type to a 3 pt as you can see in the pics.

Would like to get a manual for it so I know it s operation and maintenance. Plan to give it a cleanup and put it back to use on some corn/beans.

Not sure but believe it may be a Blackhawk and manuals had nothing in them and no plates avaible to fit.

I have one like that but it's a pull type with a clutch lift and doesn't have the depth lever at the back. McCormick model 240, 241 or 242, depending if it's a planter, drill or check row. Manual is dated 1948. I can scan them for you if nobody else has one. Yours is missing the markers. I'll get pictures later today.

After looking at mine I'd say yours was originally made for a 3 point. Note the clutch and lever in the center of the axle, yours doesn't have one. The top link bracket looks like factory as well. Sorry the pictures aren't better.

Looks like my IHC 2 row planter. once when I was a kid I saw a 4 row one just like it. Have never liked it as it plants too shallow even with the screw adjustment turned all the way, AND all the way out. I couldnt tell which way set it deep. I even turned the tongue around to try to get it to make a deeper furrow. Ive had it since I was 18. im 71 now. I have all the plates for it save beans. I HAD plastic bean plates, but they have disintergrated due to age.

Looks just like mine which I always called a 241 model although mine still has to tongue on it, not a three point. I just planted 8 acres of corn with mine yesterday. I got a manual years ago at a tractor show from a truck vender that was selling them. I get the manual out every year to figure out my spacing which it does come in handy. I think my manual is for a 240,242,and 243 model as they all seem pretty close to the same thing. I would check on-line or even a older Case=IH dealer.

A 240, 241, 242 or 243? It just didn t seem to me that the fertilizer hoppers looked the same as in other pics I ve seen.

There are parts numbers on the various parts on the unit. Would that help in identifying it? Also curious if I need other plates for beans. I m assuming I will, but hard to track down plates without knowing if they will fit my planter.

If anybody has a manual they d be willing to share it would be much appreciated! Thanks!
