I have had this type of digger for years. It does a great job and is easy to handle. I finally found a manual and (partial) parts list for it. If anyone is wants a copy of these documents, send me an email and I'll send a copy to you.

Thanks,

I drilled thousands of post holes with Dad's Continental post hole digger. Thing was already old when I was old enough to help Dad build fence and set wood posts. I took the Farmall H or Super H with the post hole digger and Dad took the M with the loader pulling the hay rack with all the posts, braces, and wire fencing for the project. Only problem I ever remember with it the steel cable that raised the gearbox and augers broke about half way out of a hole one afternoon. It was always stored inside, wasn't rust that caused it to break. Tractor Supply sold replacement augers in different sizes, think Dad had a 2 ft diameter auger for planting trees. Would drill down close to 4 ft deep. In hard dry clay ground it would struggle to dig but Dad would slide a long 2x6 above the gearbox and under the drawbar and apply "Body English" meaning hanging his 225+# onto the auger to force it to dig.

The digger sold at Dad's last auction in July 2006. Probably brought $5 or $10. It was "Quick-Attach" onto my Super H, remove the small capscrew that holds the pivot pin into the swinging drawer, quick push with a foot and swinging drawer sitting on the ground, put all the hitch pins in the tool box. Back up to the digger, tilt it back a little till the drawbar catches the hitch of the digger, install the two 5/8" bolts and nuts, attach PTO shaft, hook the two trip ropes to the seat. DONE. Lot less lifting than installing most 3-point hitch diggers.
