Just picked up a 903 auger for $125. It came with a 9 inch a7ger and everything works like its supposed to. Only problem is the bolt holding the auger bit to the gearbox output shaft is broken. The bit is stuck to the output shaft. Any ideas on getting the two apart?

Sounds like someone used a really hard bolt that didn't shear off clean, and it cut a groove in the I.D. of the auger tube. You will first have to line up the holes and get the broken bolt out. Put a pipe wrench on the auger, with a piece of pipe long enough to contact some part of the tractor. With a second pipe wrench, turn the PTO until the holes line up. Two people would work better, because an assistant could pry between the top of the auger tube and the gearbox and help align the bolt, if necessary.

A propane weed burner does a real good job of
heating up a big piece like that . I hope by grease
you mean gear oil . If the seal is that far gone you
could use corn head grease or even a thinner gun
grease like Lucas red and tacky

Got it done. Heat did nothing. Used a cut off wheel on a grinder to slice around it at bottom of bolt. It had spun and galled up pretty good. Welded the top parts back together, cleaned up the output shaft, and installed a new bolt.
