Bush Hog vs Shoup

I need a few parts for this big Bush Hog disc that I bought last fall. I was just looking up parts on Shoup. I've never bought any actual Bush hog brand parts. Does anybody know how the prices compare? Shoup prices are pretty low. I hate to take some of these parts to the a dealer 50 miles away then tell them I don't want to buy from them because I can get them cheaper somewhere else. Some of these other off brands can be pretty reasonable to buy parts for through the dealer,I just don't know about Bush Hog.

We replaced the blades on my neighbors 8ft Bush Hog cutter and the set of blades was $20 cheaper from the Bush Hog dealer than from Tractor Supply. You might check ebay some dealers sell on there.

I need a bearing and some half spools. Shoup doesn't list anything for Bush Hog,but with the dimensions and some time,I can find "will fit" by digging through other brands. Everything's bigger on it than most brands that they list use. It uses inch and a half square shafts.

I have Bush Hog disk and have never found any aftermarket parts for it. I had to get my parts from the dealer. If you can find some will fit give it a try. I did buy blades for it from Agrisupply. They are located in GA and since I was driving thru I saved on shipping.

I'll probably just go to Cards. I found the bearing through Shoup by using the Fafnir number, but the rest was just by dimensions off other brands.

Shoup has parts for my Kewanne disk. Arbor bolt for the front gang was cheaper and just as good from Shoup and $30 cheaper. The spacers and bearings are as good quality as local only cheaper and delivered in 2 days from Ill. to SD. Been satisfied on all purchases from Shoup.

By the time I pay shipping from shoup it?s cheaper to just buy oem rarher it?s green ,red, or red and yellow Your far enough east that you can qualify for free shipping so then it makes shoup savings price a pretty good deal.

This one has the bearings riveted right in to the flanges. Square axles so the half spools just but up to the bearings. That bearing's not even all that cheap from Shoup,$78.95.

If you have an industrial supply house in your area you might take the bearing there to see if they can match it up.If they do it'll most likely be cheaper$ and better quality.

RR I have bought some stuff from shoup (but not lately) no issues. Don't understand what your fixing (assuming a rotary mower or disc harrow) but sometimes the dealer and oem parts fix it right and take the guess work out of it.

Holy crap!! You are getting serious that is quite the unit!! That is going to be a load on the 550!!! You may need to move up to a 70 or 80!!

I think the 2-135 will handle it. I bought it for $750. I think I can put a little money in it and still be OK. Being a cheap Swede,I just don't want to spend more than I have to. LOL

I would never buy a part from Bush hog if I could buy it elsewhere! They have really gone downhill and use as many cheap Chinese parts as they can. We bought a new 6 foot brush cutter 3 years ago and have had a lot of trouble with inferior parts.

$750 the tires would cost more than that!!! I am beginning to think you are frugal!! Around here I would be worried about its owner coming after me for theft!!!

If he didn't want to let it go,he shouldn't have taken it to a consignment auction. LOL

I'll try that. I just talked to the parts guy at the dealer. He said a lot of that Bush Hog disc stuff had been discontinued, but if I brought the old parts over, they might be able to match it up.

Well, that was a strike out. All they listed was inch and a eighth shaft like Onefarmer's. Mine's inch and a half.

look the oem part number up(messics should have breakdown) and type that into Napas website. I ended up getting bearings for my landsman thru Deere cheaper than anywhere else. Might try a bearing supplier is you have one close by.

I checked Messick's site. The only parts they show are for the ones with the inch and an eighth shaft.

Bush hog prob is the worst with parts, I have a 2615L rotary mower and it has at least 5 different drive shafts used on it. The serial number does not tell you have it has either, They were a just used as needed. I will say they do have some good parts people at the factory that can assist you but they have a deep south accent that can be hard for northerner to understand .

Or they'd give me advice like that guy from Direct TV. I was having reception problems. We finally decided it was a tree blocking the signal. I told him I'd have to lift the boy up in the loader bucket with the chainsaw. He said "Or you could do like I did and use a shotgun.".

I have bought several things from Shoup. Found the parts to be great, the shipping is even greater. Got the parts the next day.
