IH manure spreader 200

I have an IH 200 manure spreader that the chain doesn't engage when the lever is set for it to. The beaters do spin. On the back right corner there is flat piece that looks like it should fit into the cog wheel to make the chain move. There is nothing to hold it up there and looks like a weld is broken. It did work before I let it sit for several years.

I am not a mechanic. A friend is working on it for me and told me to find the piece to fix it. Any ideas?

Thank you

In the recent past I have had a few model 200 spreaders. I've gotten rid of them,
but I do have a few parts yet. I think I do have a "repaired" dog----but it could
be usable. Also, I think I have the spring that goes with it. I would go out looking
for it, but with the kind of weather we're having in eastern Nebraska, I'm reluctant
to go out scrounging around for it. Make sure that the rest of your spreader is still
usable, and then we'll work something out----if you still want it.

C-A-Star----What are the parts that you're needing? Is it the ratchet wheel? Or is

it the "dog" that advances the ratchet wheel? Or both? I do have the "dog", and I

have the spring that goes with the "dog".

The spring. Our local Case dealer (SW MO) had a couple of springs for a model 101. I got one of them. We will try to put it on when it dries up a bit. It looks like it will fit.

Yes, on my 200 the spring mounts on the dog bolt.

If anyone has that big apron drive gear as shown above the dog in the picture, I need one.

Bret-----If your gear is not broken, but has bad "teeth", couldn't you take the gear to

a qualified machinist and have him cut new teeth? Those gears are rare.

I have the ability to cut the new teeth with my shaper. The problem is the casting has chunks missing. I could make a whole new gear out of 1" flat stock too. It's just easier to find a decent example. I missed 2 of them at an auction 2 years ago!
