grinder mixer auger

years ago i added to the unloading auger on my old grinder mixer so i could reach my 2 ton bulk bin. grinder finally died so turned it into a bulk bin. got an owatanna 95 but the auger is to short to reach my bin so thought about adding to it. problem is when i add to it it gets so long it hits the tractor cab. i know the new hollands fold over. anyone ever add an auger that folds like the new holland? i hated that long auger on my old one but never had to move the grinder from the bin to the bulk bin. now i have to move the grinder down the road to my other bins and dont want that long thing dangling on the side.

A good welding shop can fab a hinge and auger extension. Make the hinge extra heavy, and a cradle to rest the extension in on the side of the existing auger.

My Deere 400 has a fairly long factory auger. It would hit a cab or roll guard on turns if not careful. Deere made a bracket that simply raised the auger up more when in transport putting it out of the way.If you go the Deere parts sight and look up 400 grinder mixer it is item number 50 on the unloading auger page. I have two 400 grinders and both have them. Dad bent the corner up on a roll guard before he bought one. You would be able to make a bracket like that cheaper than hinging your auger. Also those hinged NH augers stuck out the side alot and more that one got beat up on shed doors. Tom

The bracket made the unloading auger higher when in storage position. Deere had a pin that the auger slid onto for storage and the bracket just moved it up. Tom

It might have been an option for your Owatonna, you'd have to check. My Farmhand has the regular auger with an extension but you could also get the extra long folding one as well.
