Hi there, I just made a commitment to purchase an MF model 57 rollover plow, serial #5166. I have a couple of questions. I plan to pull it with an MF 1135, so I'm sure I have enough tractor to handle it.
1) Is this an MF-built plow, or was it built for them by another manufacturer, and shares parts with other brands?
2) What is the correct spacing between rear tires on the tractor, for 3x16" furrows on this plow? The tractor has 20.8x38 tires.
3) I would like to add coverboards to it, does anyone know where I could find mounting hardware to do this?
4) The plow has a home-made hitch out the side, which I am assuming was for a harrow or some sort of smoothing device. If I choose to run a harrow behind to smooth out the furrows, what type of harrow should I choose, and how does it handle being flipped over at the headlands? I am trying to picture a harrow flying through the air as the plow rotates, and it doesn't seem like it would be a great idea, and yet I have seen pictures of reversible plows pulling rolling harrows.
Any help and advice is appreciated!
